Abdulelah Haider Shaye was arrested three years ago on charges of aiding Islamist militants in Yemen.
He was freed Tuesday as part of a presidential pardon.
Shai had been pardoned once before, but didn’t get out because US President Barack Obama reportedly pressured the Yemeni government to keep him behind bars.
Anchor Carol Hills talks to Yemen-based journalist Iona Craig who has been following the story since 2010.
