Margaret Thatcher became British Prime Minister in 1979. Baroness Thatcher, as she is now, continues to cast a long shadow over modern politics in general and conservative politics in particular. A dear friend of President Ronald Reagan, her firebrand style of conservatism prioritized privatization and reduced state intervention. The new movie about her – “The Iron Lady” – steers clear of commenting on these policies, but deals with personal price she has paid for spending much of her life in the public spotlight. John Campbell is author of “Iron Lady,” which supplied the basis for the new movie of the same name.
