On the surface, the Cannes Film Festival is the classiest of the annual film showcases; it’s French, after all. But in reality, it’s known for rowdy audiences who aren’t afraid to boo down Hollywood sweethearts like Sofia Coppola, or give 20-minute standing ovations to loose-cannon documentarians like Michael Moore.
