[waitingforcorrection: guid not valid, now a blog post, no audio, also actual date is 11 mar — see url] The huge annual music, film and interactive conference “South By Southwest” launches in Austin, Texas today. A giant event that started as a small independent conference this year marks the 25th anniversary of the music and media conference. The multi-million dollar event brings in some 13,000 visitors (about half the population of Austin) and serves as the venue for roughly 2,000 musical acts from 61 countries performing on 90 stages for five days. What are some of the highlights of the week?
With the incredible and overwhelming lineup of music, we asked Audra Schroeder to put together a playlist of her must-see artists. Schroeder is an associate music editor at The Austin Chronicle, and she’s been covering SXSW for the past seven years. Among her highlights are Detroit native Invincible, the garage-band Glasser, and Brooklyn transplant Sharon Van Etten.
