For today’s Geo Quiz — we’re looking for an emirate. There are seven United Arab Emirates.

They’re on the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. We’re looking for one of them. Oil and natural gas drive its economy.

Tourism, real estate, and financial services have also provided a major boost. This place has become a world business hub. But the boom may be running out of steam. The global downturn is putting the breaks on new construction, and oil prices remain low.

Still, this emirate hosts what’s billed as the world’s richest horse race. Six-million dollars went to the winner this weekend. We’ll tell you more about the race, the winners, the losers, when we reveal the answer…

But first, we’re off to the races.

Our Geo Quiz sent us to the site of the horse race with the biggest prize of them all.

That would be the Dubai World Cup in the emirate of Dubai.

The race was held this past weekend. And an American thoroughbred named Well Armed ran well ahead of the pack. His victory earned a cool six-million bucks.
