There’s an old proverb, “When the wine goes in, the wit goes out.” Well, Derek Waters is putting those words to the test. He created a series of popular web videos for the site FunnyorDie.com where he gets a drunk buddy to describe an important event in American history. The event is then re-enacted in full period costumes by the likes of Jack Black, Michael Cera, and others. He calls it Drunk History. Oh, and he’s also the star of the new indie comedy Bar Starz. At The World, we believe strongly that human-centered journalism is at the heart of an informed public and a strong democracy. We see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.
Every day, our nonprofit newsroom seeks to inform and empower listeners and hold the powerful accountable. Neither would be possible without the support of listeners like you. If you believe in our work, will you give today? We need your help now more than ever!
