Somehow he just didn’t quite seem truly sorry enough.

But Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera wants to be forgiven for his March 23 remarks that the unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin had brought his Feb 26 killing on himself wearing a hoodie.

He had already issued a written apology last week but the TV presenter on Sunday took to the airwaves to issue a live apology to Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, who joined Rivera on air.

Here is a video of Rivera speaking on Fox News:

Rivera said he had meant to warn parents that so-called hoodies could attract hostile attention.

“But I never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings and certainly, Sybrina and Tracy, I never intended to hurt your feelings. I want to personally convey my deepest apologies to both of you. I am sorry if anything I said, Tracy, added to your misery,” Rivera said.

“Thank you for the apology,” Tracy Martin, Trayvon's father, said, according to Politico. “Your apology is accepted.”

Politico noted that Trayvon Martin’s death had “touched off a nationwide discussion about race” as some accused George Zimmerman, Martin’s killer, of acting not out of self defense but of racial bias.
