On Tuesday, the European Space Agency (ESA) launched a small bioreactor carrying genetically engineered yeast into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. It’s part of a larger plan to develop in-space food production systems to serve the International Space Station and future missions to the moon and Mars.
