Twin Donuts helped bring the Cambodian doughnut craze to Boston. This weekend, it’s closing its doors.

Ted Ngoy is a bit of a legend in the donut world; in the 1970s, he escaped Cambodia’s communist Khmer Rouge and made his way to Southern California. Over the next decade, he earned the nickname “The Donut King” after opening 60-plus doughnut shops across the region. Ngoy’s legacy led to thousands of doughnut shops run by Cambodian immigrants across the US, including one shop called Twin Donuts in Allston, Massachusetts. This weekend, though, Twin Donuts is closing its doors for good. The World’s Bianca Hillier reports.
