State of the climate report

A new report from the World Meteorological Organization finds 2024 was a record-breaking year for the impacts of climate change. Temperatures reached new highs in the ocean, as did sea levels, and both are considered locked in for hundreds of years. Carbon dioxide, which traps heat and fuels climate change, has reached higher concentrations in the atmosphere than there has been in 800,000 years.
