The decision by President Donald Trump to pause military aid to Ukraine has reverberated across Europe, and not just because European nations must now fill the billion-dollar void created by the withdrawal of US support. Some in the bloc are now questioning the very future of the 80-year trans-Atlantic relationship that’s guided global conflict resolution since the mid-20th century.
