This Congolese band formed when the power went out in the DRC

Kin Gongolo Kiniata means “the sound that crushes.” The band plays with electric guitars and handmade instruments made from recycled materials like plastic bottles and metal. It’s a sound the group says captures the noise of Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo, when the power goes out, and also showcases the city’s ability to be resourceful and experimental.
