In a half-hour speech today, President Donald Trump laid out some foreign policy promises, goals and predictions. They included a name change for the Gulf of Mexico and the return of the Panama Canal to American hands. Meanwhile, for many communities, Trump’s announcement today that he will begin deportations is nothing new. Arizona has experienced roundups of undocumented immigrants before, as a result of the state’s the infamous SB1070 act. So now, families and community groups are doing things like making plans for guardianship of their kids in case they get deported and creating 24-hour hotlines that people can call for legal aid.
