The US State Department’s top Middle East envoy, Barbara Leaf, arrived in Damascus today for meetings with Syria’s new interim government headed by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham. Afterwards, it was announced that the $10 million bounty on the group’s leader, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, also known as Ahmed al-Sharaa, had been removed.
