Kyrgyzstan’s president wants to scrap the national anthem

President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan has proposed updating the country’s national anthem. The current anthem was adopted shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union and no longer represents the mature republic Kyrgyzstan has become in the years since, according to Japarov.
