Residents in the Syrian capital Damascus woke up to the realization that the Assad regime had actually fallen. More than 60 years of dictatorship had finally come to an end and there was euphoria in the heart of the capital. But in the following hours, the city witnessed intense gunfire, looting and lack of electricity as the rebels completed their takeover.
