In the middle of the night, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued a surprise announcement on television, imposing martial law on the country. He said “North Korean forces” needed to be eradicated. Lawmakers quickly acted to cancel the emergency declaration. But the bitter political divide in South Korea remains unresolved.
