Meanwhile, scientists are calling for global action to limit the long-term harm that all plastics — including microplastics — can cause. Richard Thompson of the International Marine Litter Research Unit at the University of Plymouth is one of the leading voices behind that effort, and he tells Host Carolyn Beeler that although there is still time to make a difference, the time to act is now.
