Egypt to receive US military aid that was contingent on human rights improvement

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken waived the human rights requirements on $94 million of military aid slated for Egypt. As Mohamad Elmasry, a political analyst and professor at the Doha Institute of Graduate Studies in Qatar explains, Egypt’s human rights record is “abysmal,” but the relationship is too valuable to jeopardize.
