Angry protesters stormed into Mexico’s Senate building on Tuesday night in a failed bid to block a vote on judicial reform. The measure passed, clearing the way for all judges in Mexico to be elected by popular vote. Critics of the change say it will remove checks on executive power, undercut Mexico’s democracy and further empower drug cartels.
