Alarm is growing among health officials about the increasing cases of the Mpox virus across Africa. While Mpox has been endemic to the Democratic Republic of Congo for decades, several nearby countries have recorded their first-ever cases in recent months. The World Health Organization is set to deliberate on whether the recent wave of outbreaks amounts to an international public health emergency.
