Why the war in Gaza drags on

It’s been more than nine months since the Hamas-led attack of Oct. 7, and there’s no end in sight to the fighting in Gaza. Israeli soldiers are increasingly returning to areas they previously cleared of Hamas, because the militants have reappeared.
