Yellow vests, Emanuel Macron and France’s Climate Policy

The World

French President Emmanuel Macron stands firmly with his new energy policies, despite criticism from environmentalists, and even citizens. Macron said today that he won’t stop his fuel tax plan that has prompted thousands of French demonstrators to take to the streets in yellow vests and block traffic and gas stops. He also announced the push to shut down all carbon plants by 2022, along with a number of nuclear reactors. Host Marco Werman talks to Romain Riollet, the energy efficiency project manager of Cler, a French nongovernmental organization for clean energy, about Macron’s climate change strategies.
