Negotiators are meeting in Montreal, Canada, this week to come up with a plan to halt the steep decline in biodiversity. The goal is to preserve 30% of the Earth’s land and seas by 2030. But many Indigenous activists at the conference warn that Indigenous peoples could be kicked off their ancestral lands in the name of conservation, if their land rights are not secured.
