In the United States, more than 350,000 people have died of COVID-19. Worldwide, the death toll is approaching 2 million. Yet as thousands die daily, life continues on as normal in many parts of the US. This “psychic numbing” to the situation at hand is something University of Oregon psychology professor Paul Slovic has studied closely. Host Carol Hills speaks to Slovic from Eugene, Oregon.
