But the continent is now facing a second wave of the coronavirus, and new variants, which could be more threatening. Another big challenge: very few vaccines so far have reached Africa. Host Marco Werman speaks with Dr. Ahmed Ogwell Ouma, deputy director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about these challenges, and his group’s recent deal to secure hundreds of millions of vaccines.
