US states, schools consider mandating Asian American history in classrooms 

There is a growing push requiring public schoolteachers to cover the histories of groups left out of US history textbooks. States such as Illinois, Wisconsin and New York are considering some initiatives to do that. Some advocates say education is one way to fight against the increase in violence against Asian Americans, while critics say talking about race and racism in schools is not necessary.
