Earlier this week, the US conducted airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias in both Iraq and Syria. According to the US military, just hours later, US forces also came under rocket attack. The US strikes on Iraqi and Syrian soil were the second time that President Joe Biden had ordered the use of force in the region. But with this resurgent tension, what is the US strategy in the region? And where does Iraq stand in all of this?
