US allows exports of essential raw vaccine materials to India

Shifting its policy, the United States has agreed to allow companies to export to India raw materials needed for vaccines. The raw materials had been prioritized for making vaccines in the US. But the shift in policy comes amid an outbreak in India that is pushing that country’s health system to the brink. Host Marco Werman speaks with Matt Kavanagh, an assistant professor of global health at Georgetown University, about the backlogs and the role of the US.
