UN report urges swift action on methane

Methane, the potent but short-lived greenhouse gas, is increasingly raising alarm as a driver of climate change. A new UN report warns that emissions must be slashed dramatically in the coming decade to keep the worst impacts of global warming at bay. But it raises hope, too: Some 45% of human-caused emissions can be stopped by 2030, much of that with already available — and often cheap — technology. And methane’s short-lived nature means cutting emissions will reap quick benefits.The World’s Carolyn Beeler reports.
