UN Human Rights Council starts its regular session

The UN Secretary-General says COVID-19 has exacerbated human rights violations around the world, and human rights workers on the ground — who keep the UN informed — are increasingly under attack. That makes the Human Rights Council’s work crucial as it starts its regular session on Monday. The US is rejoining the council as an observer but, as The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, experts say it can still play a key role by holding council members accountable for human rights violations.
