In the early weeks of the war, there was fierce fighting on the outskirts of Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. The village of Moshchun was hit with artillery and airstrikes, then occupied briefly by Russian soldiers. Many civilians were killed and homes destroyed. Now, residents are returning to what’s left of their neighborhoods. They’re clearing debris, digging out their homes, rebuilding their lives. Even as they remember the lives of neighbors they have lost. The World’s Daniel Ofman reports.
