Oleksii Reznikov, the defense minister of Ukraine, has been fired in the wake of a corruption scandal involving his deputy. So far, Reznikov has not been implicated himself. His dismissal and apparent replacement by a prominent and vocal military intelligence chief indicates the political value that the office carries, especially when it comes to procuring weapons for Ukraine.
