Two women are now at the forefront of Italian politics. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the newly elected leader of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein. But Schlein, a US-Italian national who once worked on Barack Obama’s election campaigns, could not be more different from the nationalist prime minister.
