Two governments claim to run Myanmar. Which will the UN accept?

The United Nations will soon have to make a tricky decision about Myanmar: Should it accept a widely despised military regime that illegally seized control of the country earlier this year? Or will it recognize a new revolutionary government, composed of ousted elected officials, that has massive public support — but not nearly as many guns and no liberated territory of its own. Both seek a seat at the United Nations General Assembly this week. The decision falls to a little-known panel of nine people known as the “credentials committee.” As The World’s Patrick Winn reports, their decision could steer the fate of the troubled country.
