John Bolton was in Ankara, the Turkish capital, for meetings with his national security counterpart but left after he was denied a meeting with the Turkish president, according to local newspaper reports. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan meanwhile denounced comments that John Bolton had earlier made regarding Turkey’s need to protect Syria’s Kurds.
