Russian, Chinese and European tourism agencies are planning on bringing tourists back to Syria next year. Travel vloggers are also visiting the country, inviting people to visit historical sites and colorful souks. But how ethical is it to visit a country still officially in a state of civil war not to mention a terrible human rights record? The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Mohammad al-Abdallah, the executive director of the Syrian Justice and Accountability Center, about the ethics of tourism to Syria and how the government benefits from it.
