Top US diplomat to Ukraine steps down

William Taylor came out of retirement last spring to lead US diplomatic efforts in Ukraine after President Donald Trump recalled the US ambassador, Maria Yovanovich. Now Taylor is reported to be leaving his temporary post in Kyiv in just two weeks. The post of ambassador to Ukraine has never been more controversial, and it’s a role that Steven Pifer knows well. He was the American ambassador to Ukraine from 1998 to 2000. Host Marco Werman speaks with Pifer about what Taylor’s departure might mean for Ukraine and the US— and for relations between the two.
