Every year, the deadly 1989 crackdown on Tiananmen Square in Beijing is commemorated in Hong Kong on this date. June 4, 2020, was different. Local officials in Hong Kong said they banned the annual vigil because of the pandemic. But many Hongkongers worry it will be banned forever.
