The star chaser of Senegal

Astronomer Maram Kaire partnered with NASA on a mission to observe an asteroid that the space agency plans to send a space probe to. The asteroid, Orus, was briefly visible over Senegal, where Kaire tracked it. The World’s Marco Werman talks to Kaire about the role of astronomy in Senegalese society and its roots in his country’s history. A NOVA documentary about the mission and Maram Kaire airs on PBS, tonight.
