The challenge of getting earthquake relief aid to Syria, a pariah state that’s still at war

Much of the area in northern Syria hit hardest by the earthquake this week was already devastated by years of civil war. The pariah status of Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad also presents a challenge as many governments — including the United States — don’t want to have any officials dealings with his government. Add to that the economic sanctions in place against Syria. Marco Werman speaks with Natasha Hall of the Center for Strategic and International Studies about the special challenges in getting timely help to people in northwest Syria.
