Terrorist burial

The World

The Peruvian Congress has approved a proposal that would allow the government to incinerate and dispose at an undisclosed location the ashes of Shining Path leader Abimael Guzmán. The proposal is pending the signature of President Pedro Castillo, whose party has been linked to the Shining Path, but who has condemned the killings for which Guzmán was convicted. The disposal of Guzmán’s body had been controversial since he died.
