The US was close to concluding a deal with the Taliban that would have allowed Washington to declare an end to its 18-year-old war with the insurgent movement. But Mary Akrami with the Afghan Women’s Network in Kabul tells Marco Werman that any deal that didn’t include safeguards for women is unacceptable.
