Syria’s Assad invited to UN climate summit in UAE

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was invited to attend the international climate conference, COP28, later this year in the United Arab Emirates. It follows a normalization of relations between Syria and many of its Arab neighbors that also saw it rejoin the Arab League. Host Marco Werman speaks with Karam Shaar, a senior fellow with the New Lines Institute, about how Syria plans to reap the financial benefits of friendlier relations with its neighbors.
