Syrians mark 10-year anniversary of conflict

The World

It’s been officially 10 years since the start of the conflict in Syria. What started as a largely peaceful uprising against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, quickly devolved into a war unlike any other in the region’s modern history. Syria’s destruction left the country as a shell of its former self while peace remains as elusive as ever. The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Lina Sergie Attar, a Syrian writer and activist, about what the anniversary means for Syria and its future.
