Suni Lee’s gold medal brings tears of joy to Hmong American community in Minnesota

Yesterday, history was made by the US Olympic team, as Suni Lee, the first Hmong American gymnast, won the gold medal for all-around women’s gymnastics. At an event center in Oakdale, Minnesota, hundreds of people gathered around Lee’s parents to celebrate her historic win. Among the crowd was Kaohly Vang Her, a state representative from Minnesota and a friend of the Lee family.
