Rached Ghannouchi, the opposition leader of the highly influential Ennahda Party in Tunisia, was arrested on Monday after police raided his home. Ghannouchi and his party helped forge a compromise with secularists shortly after the Arab Spring, which laid the groundwork for Tunisia’s peaceful democratic transition. Ghannouchi and his supporters say the charges are fabricated.
