Spain’s Canary Islands scramble to manage surge in migration

In recent months, Spain’s Canary Islands have seen a sharp uptick in migrant arrivals from West Africa. This year, more than 20,000 have arrived in the Canary Islands. That’s ten times more than last year. It is not the first time the Canary Islands have been a destination for migrants — and many activists say Spain should’ve been better prepared. Lucia Benavides reports from Spain.
