Sons of spies

The World

People aren’t always who they say they are. For all you know, the married couple next door with two kids might be Russian spies. It might sound like something from the plot of the TV show “The Americans.” The show is inspired by the true story of Alexander Vavilov’s parents. They were charged and arrested with espionage almost 10 years ago. The whole family was sent back to Russia. But Alexander Vavilov was a teen. He wanted to stay in Canada, where he was born. Since then, he’s been fighting for his birthright citizenship in Canada. And today, he won. Host Carol Hills speaks with Hadayt Nazami, Vavilov’s lawyer.
