Scotland giving out free sanitary napkins

The World

Scotland reportedly became the first country in the world to give out free sanitary napkins to students Friday. One of the key influencers behind this move is Victoria Heaney, a member of the Scottish grassroots group, Women for Independence. Heaney’s research on period poverty, #FreePeriodScotland, caught the attention of the Scottish government last year. Host Marco Werman talks to Heaney about her research, her reaction to the news and what still needs to be done in the fight against period poverty.
